I like public television, channels 12 & 17 in Lincoln, and watch PBS more than any other station. I found One Stroke Painting with Donna DewBerry on channel 12 at 7:30 AM Saturday mornings. I watched it faithfully and eventually decided to try it. I had some of the acrylic paints and brushes because I have used them in painting using stencils for many years. I purchased a few more brushes and started practicing one stroke leaves, roses and rosebuds to see if I could do it. My first project was the buffet in the living room. It came out beautiful. My next project was a flower stand that is by the front door which holds business cards.
The recent purchase of her book on painting on walls has spurred some designs that I have been trying out on paper. I am thinking about painting signs on wall by doors with the name of the room on the sign. I am also thinking of painting a family tree somewhere. It would be fun to have relatives add names to the tree when they visit. We have held 3 family reunions at the Hawley Bed & Breakfast and have another one planned for June 2007.
