IQSC Quilt Symposium April 2-4

The Global Quilt: Cultural Contexts symposium will be held from April 2 to 4, beginning on Thursday evening with a lecture at the International Quilt Study Center and Museum, and continue through Friday and Saturday at the Holiday Inn-Downtown. The schedule of papers and presenters can be found at the Web site listed below. Early registration is preferred, but walk-in registration will be taken. Faculty and students are free.

Keynote Address April 2
Jennifer Harris, deputy director/curator of textiles at the Whitworth Art Gallery, University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, will present "Innovation and Tradition in Contemporary Craft Practice," at 7 p.m. April 2 in the International Quilt Study Center and Museum. She most recently curated the major exhibitions Take 4: New Perspectives on the British Art Quilt, and Indigo: A Blue to Dye For. The doors open at 6 p.m., with a reception following the lecture. Admission $10 members, $15 non-members, free for IQSC Symposium registrants. More info at the Web site listed below.

- Hawley House
- John and Peggy have been married 46 years. John semi retired January 2007 and is fully retired in the summer of 2008. Peggy works full time at the University of Nebraska. We have 2 children Robert and Leeza. We also have 8 grandchildren. All live in Lincoln and we enjoy having them close. The Hawley Bed & Breakfast was open for 6 years. Now the Hawley House is in an 1890's Victorian built as two town homes that has been opened into one home and is a local historical landmark. We will be moving into the home in 2011 from across the street. We have 3 dogs Miko (12), Snoopy (10) & Sophie (8).
