John & Peggy from the Hawley Bed & Breakfast took the 3 oldest grandchildrent to Skeeter Barnes for supper last night. John picked up the kids from school and then picked me up from work and we went to an auction on the south side of Lincoln. The equipment was old and not in good repair and not what we were looking for, so we left and went to eat.
When we got there the young woman that showed us to the table asked if we wanted a booth or table. We said we wanted a table. She lead us to the back and tried to seat us at a booth. We said we wanted a table and was seated at a table. The waiter was very attentive and good.
John ordered the ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and potatoe salad. G. ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and frys, S. ordered macaroni and cheese and frys and B. ordered ribs and frys. I ordered a kids meal of brisket sandwich and vegetables. All the kids meals were $4 except the ribs and they were $5. I don't know what John's rib meal cost. The kids meals also came with a drink.
All the food was very good. B. also ate most of John's mashed potatoes and half of S. frys.
John ordered 1 piece of carrot cake for dessert. It is 4 layers. B., G., S. and John had a layer. I had 2 bites of John's. It is real good, and a big dessert. The kids looked at the bill and were shocked the cake cost $6.99. A good learning experience for them.
When the meal was over, the steaming wash cloths were brought out. The kids really enjoyed them. There was alot of discussion of how they get them that hot.
