About 40 years ago I bought a couch and chair at an auction, so I don't know how old it is. They both had down cushions. Our children grew up with this furniture, so it had some heavy use.
In the 1980's I took an upholstering class and reupholstered the chair. It looks nice and hasn't been used alot since then.
The couch was in use until 1993 when it was put into storage in the attic. In 2004 it came out of storage and since the upholstery is in bad shape, it has had a cover on it.
In 2006 I found someone to recover it, Ilene Rich, but she was booked up. But she measured it and told me what fabric would do well on it. When Hancock Fabric Store was having a good sale, she called me to go look and I purchased some very pretty fabric.
This weekend she came over and measured the fringe, over 21 yards, and it is doubled so that would mean 42 yards of fringe if I replaced all of it. She took a cutting of the fringe and will see if she can find something that will look nice with the fabric. She took a cutting of the fabric too.
I am hoping that we can get this couch recovered in the next few months.
The couch has wood carved feet. Both ends of the couch curve around from the back instead of having arms. The back has shape to it, not straight across.
