Entry way and stairs

The carpet was removed from the entry way and stairs in 2005 after all tenants had moved out.
My 3 oldest grandchildren helped remove the carpet and staples. It was a big job. Once the carpet and staples were removed, the floor was refinished when the other floors were refinished in May 2005.
The stairs were not refinished. I have been working on the stairs by hand. The north stairs have all been stripped of the glue from the carpet. Over time, I have stained and finished over half the stairs risers and treds. The south stairs also need to be repaired but need to be repaired from the back. That will require removing plaster and lath from the back in the closet for access. It will be a dirty and hard job, so has not been done yet.
The south stairs have part of the glue stripped and part that have not been stripped.
I keep a rope across the stairs to keep people from venturing upstairs.
Someone had painted glitter glue inside all the carvings on the newel posts. I used a flat head screw driver and a nut pick to clean all the glitter and glue out of the carvings. Then I went over them with stain and put a polyurethane finish on them.
The hall way was painted and then we hung many of John's wildlife prints in the hall. Most of the prints are signed numbered prints by Neal Anderson, the wildlife artist.
Also in the hall are 2 small church pews where you can sit to take off your boots.
A brass umbrella stand is by the door filled with umbrellas for people to use.
There is a small plant stand by the door. It is painted with flowers like I painted on the buffet in the dining room. It holds business cards for people to pick up.
